Forgotten Peoples Project
The Forgotten Peoples Project involved a broad cross-sections of the Australian public contributing their time to produce three million knotted squares of material, representing the three million people displaced by the crisis in Darfur. These pieces of material were then incorporated into a public instillation and displayed next to a pile of 500 knotted pieces, representing Australia’s contribution to protecting those displaced by the Darfur crisis. As the major awareness raising project for 2007, the instillation was accompanied by a large scale education outreach programme in which numerous school groups were involved.
The instillation was held in the Atrium, Federation Square, and opened on 17th October.
